I know, this is not a fresh subject to talk about actually, lots of blogger and magazines have published articles, pictures and interviews already at this time, but as image consultant let me say I HAVE to write something about the outfits of the most chatted Red Carpet's stars!
Just because they have spent lots of money in exclusive high-fashion dresses, in fact, doesn't mean they have done wise choices. I hope you will find this article funny and even useful to chose your next dress for a prom, a gala dinner or a wedding ;-)
Let's go to see the stars looks now, one by one! I am going to rate them from 1 to 5, with a brief explanations.
Jennifer Lawrence : rate 4
"Why 4?" you are surely asking yourselves.. Well, she is beautiful in this gown and there nothing really "discordant" in her outfit, just.. something in her expression tells "I'm not feeling at ease in this dress" and she is not really shining. Despite I find the style of this dress good for her personality and her body shape as well, there is something missing; maybe is the nude effect of the top, that is not illuminating her beautiful eyes and, on the contrary, is quite similar and homogeneous with her skin tone and her hair! Maybe a bright red lipstick would have done the difference, indeed!
Charlize Theron : rate 3
Oh Charlize...one of the most beautiful woman in the world! Maybe the most beautiful, in my opinion. But, even if you may think I am mad now, I can tell that her proportions are not that perfect! She is what we personal stylists call an inverted triangle, which means she has wide shoulders and narrower hips, therefore, if not carefully balanced, her figure can be overwhelmed by her shoulder. If I were her I wouldn't have chosen a dress like that because, even if amazing, it emphasize her wide shoulder making her hips seem even more narrow,. Besides, to be totally honest, I don't think this particular red shape is her best one! I've seen her in brighter red dress which made her eyes shine like diamonds. Nothing to say about her hair and make-up instead : perfect and stylish as always.
Cate Blanchett : rate 5
Nothing to say about Cate Blanchett look! She is absolutely flawless in this dress : the color enhance her ethereal beauty, the 3D-flowers (one of the last top fashion trends!) are delicate and make her seem a living Venus. Hair and make-up are sophisticated and absolutely perfect for her face tones and the dress color as well. Though the dress is rich and embellished you focus your attention on her face first of all, because everything is well balanced. That means she reached the goal : making the people remember her, not only her dress!
Alicia Vikander : rate 4
She is almost perfect, almost. The dress is undoubtedly good for her : fresh, graceful, playful and elegant at the same time. The color has been guessed, it enhances her complexion and natural tones and the silver elements add the right amount of brightness. Everything is well coordinated : the jewelry, the shoes, the make-up, yet here again there is something missing.. the reason why I give her 4 is because I would have done something more to balance the huge volume of the dress' bottom, more volume to the hair (and even to the dress top) would have been better. She gets great class, freshness and originality yet, contrary to Cate Blanchett, I think you are going to remember her dress more than HER.
Brie Larson : rate 4.5
I love this dress, really! The shade of blue is bright and elegant, the flounces of the bottom are delicate and in balance with the plain top somehow. Apart from personal taste, I think this was the perfect dress choice for her, it is enhancing her figure and highlighting her natural colors; and the make-up is working as well! But I am more than convinced that the hairstyle has not been guessed : in fact, instead of dampen her squared face shape and her high forehead, they are emphasized even more. She would have been better with loose waved hair.
Rachel McAdams : rate 2
I looked forward to write about her! The only thing I find good for her in this dress is the color! Come on, look at the wrinkles at the tummy!! this is first thing I noticed looking at her outfit...not her eyes (despite the dress color make them shine), not her style in general, but the wrinkles!! This kind of fabric is not only bad for this reason anyway, but also because it makes emerge every little flaw that a body can hide! Not to mention the dress cut, that is making her breast seem flatter while her bottom seem bigger, creating unbalance in her naturally well balanced body. And if I were her, supposing this was the best choice to do and the dress of my dreams, I would have add some elements on front (like a pendant necklace) to break the monotony of this plain, straight dress. I admit I like her make-up and hairstyle, but if you are a movie star going at the Academy Awards this is not enough, you must be aware of what you wear!
Daisy Ridley : rate 4.5
I like her, pretty much! for me she is intended to become one of the new true divas! You remember her face, her smile, her posture, not only her dress. She has a rare sophisticated simple look here, but there's still something slightly unconvincing in this outfit for me and I think is about the colors: maybe the dress is a bit "dull" for her and, anyway, I don't think it is really well matching with the red lipstick's shade chosen. But anyway..well done Daisy!
Saoirse Ronan : rate 1
My goodness... there is nothing working here! She seemed squeezed in that waistline, doesn't she? And there is definitely something wrong on the top as well, as if something is missing; I can't really explain what, but this is what I perceive looking at this picture. And the color, it may seems fine for her eyes, but it definitely isn't : too dark and deep for her complexion and general tones, it is not making her shine (despite of the all-over sparkling sequins) but it makes her seems dull and it is undoubtedly overpowering her. I would have done a totally different choice if I were Saoirse. And now I have this thought floating in my mind that most of these actress wanted to get rid of their bra for the Academy Awards and deeply show their decollete, despite of the dress shape and cut!
Heidi Klum : rate 3
The dress is awesome and delicate and the colors shades are good for her tones but..is it real?? I mean, she seems the character of a movie, like the queen of a fantastic lost world, not a movie star in the real life! Frankly I find it inappropriate and maybe "too much" for the occasion, even if is the AA we are talking about. This, at least, my personal and professional opinion.
Kate Winslet : rate 4
This dress is quite simple but with details that make the difference, and it remains impressed in your memory despite its simplicity. But in this case the dress do not overwhelm the actress. Kate Winslet is, actually, absolutely at ease and confident in this gown and she wear it with dignity, despite the all over shiny effect that makes the dress almost seem like a cling film. Her hairstyle, make-up and jewelry are perfectly matching between them and with her personality/style as well. I am afraid she is not famous for her sense of style in general, but I think she did very well this time.
The carousel ends here! These were for me the most interesting "cases", that did worth to write about! I hope you did enjoy the reading and that you could have found some of my critics even useful.
