PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: HOW TO STYLE YOUR AUTUMN BOOTS

Autumn is truly boot season, and if you're anything like me, you've been eagerly pulling yours out from storage! Let me walk you through how to choose and style the perfect autumn boots for your body, personality, and colouring.

Finding Your Perfect Boot Style

Pointy Boots

These are your secret weapons for creating the illusion of longer legs and more elegant feet. The pointed toe creates a continuous line from your leg through to the toe, which is incredibly elongating and sophisticated – perfect for the office or smart-casual occasions. These black pointed toe, mid booties work perfectly for a date night when styled with a pair of wide leg trousers and unique jewellery (if you love the leopard print jacket, you can find that here, and the blouse, here).

Ankle Boots

These beauties are most flattering on those with long, slim legs who don't mind drawing attention to the ankle. If you're petite or want to create length, I'd suggest pairing ankle boots with trousers in the same colour family to avoid breaking up your leg line, or opt for a heeled version to add height. Like these beige snakeskin boots paired with camel trousers which look great together for a work or brunch look. The layered blouse is perfect for the office while adding some personality, with an oversized suede bag in a similar shade for all your work needs.

Knee High Boots

Want to elongate your legs and create a sleek, streamlined silhouette? Knee-high boots are your answer. They're particularly flattering under midi skirts or dresses, and anything with a heel will give you that extra confidence boost and length.

For a sexy, date night look, pair these croc-embossed boots with a midi dress in one of your accent colours that shows just enough of the boot, grab a clutch in a complementary colour & add your final accessories and you're ready to head for cocktails and dinner.

You can also wear a suede knee-high boot with a pencil skirt and blazer for work, then swap it out with a pair of tights & a midi (or even a mini!) skirt for drinks with friends after a long day in meetings for a quick change up of your look. Or combine the pointed toe & a knee high boot with these leather high heeled boots.

Patterned & Statement Boots

If you have a creative or dramatic personality, or if you'd like to draw attention away from your torso or bust area, patterned boots are an excellent choice. Snake print, animal patterns (like dalmation spots, as styled below), textured finishes, or unique heels become the focal point of your outfit, allowing you to keep everything else simple and letting your boots do the talking.

Choosing Colours That Complement You

Understanding your seasonal colour palette will help you select boots that truly make you glow:

Warm Tones (Autumn & Spring):

Rich browns (as styled below), camel, cognac/chocolate, an Autumns favourite, green, and warm tan shades will harmonise beautifully with your natural colouring and make you look radiant.

Cool Tones (Summer & Winter):

Black, taupe, (as styled below) silver, sand, cool-toned snake print, and burgundy will enhance your natural elegance and complement your cool undertones perfectly.

How to Wear Boots with Confidence

The key to styling boots successfully is creating balance and proportion in your outfit.

Pair ankle boots with cropped trousers and a structured blazer for a smart/casual look, or wear knee-high boots with a midi skirt and tucked-in knitwear for an effortlessly chic autumn look.

Statement boots pair beautifully with simple, monochromatic outfits – let them be the star of the show!
