PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: OFFICE WORKWEAR IDEAS FOR THE SUMMER

As summer settles in and temperatures rise, finding the balance between staying cool and looking professional can feel like a daily challenge. When the morning commute is already warm and the office air-con is blasting by midday, dressing for the season requires a bit of strategy.

But don’t worry—it’s entirely possible to feel comfortable and look polished, without sacrificing your personal style or professional edge. The key lies in smart fabric choices, clever layering, and a shift towards softer tones. Here’s how to master summer workwear like a pro.

As summer settles in and temperatures rise, finding the balance between staying cool and looking professional can feel like a daily challenge. When the morning commute is already warm and the office air-con is blasting by midday, dressing for the season requires a bit of strategy.

But don’t worry, it’s entirely possible to feel comfortable and look polished, without sacrificing your personal style or professional edge. The key lies in smart fabric choices, clever layering, and a shift towards softer tones. Here’s how to master summer workwear like a pro.

1. Choose Breathable, Lightweight Fabrics

When the heat is on, your best friends are natural, breathable fabrics—think linen, cotton, and silk blends. These materials allow your skin to breathe and help regulate body temperature throughout the day.

Linen often gets a bad rap for wrinkling easily, but modern blends have come a long way. Brands like Theory, for instance, offer technical linen that creases far less while retaining that effortlessly crisp look. Try linen blazers, cotton button-ups, or a fluid silk dress for pieces that feel as cool as they look smart.

2. Embrace Sleeveless and Short Sleeves

While a long-sleeved blouse is undeniably classic, summer calls for a more relaxed silhouette. Sleeveless tops or short-sleeve blouses are a great way to stay comfortable without compromising on style.

Opt for elegant details, subtle pleats, tie-necks, or neat button-down designs, to elevate your look. Pair with high-waisted trousers or a tailored skirt for a sleek, office-ready outfit that won’t leave you overheating by lunchtime.

3. Lighten Up Your Colour Palette

Dark hues can feel heavy in the summer months—both visually and literally. Lighter colours not only reflect heat more effectively, but they also give off a fresh, polished vibe that’s perfect for the office.

Try incorporating soft neutrals like white, beige, dove grey or gentle pastels. These tones pair beautifully with most wardrobe staples and allow for effortless mix-and-match options throughout the week.

4. Step Into Comfortable, Stylish Footwear

Let’s face it—navigating city pavements in stilettos on a hot day is no one’s idea of a good time. Fortunately, comfort and style can go hand-in-hand.

Look for smart flats, chic mules or block-heeled shoes that offer both support and elegance. These are perfect for long days at the office (or running between meetings) while still keeping your outfit feeling refined.

5. Layer Lightly for Office Comfort

Summer might bring soaring outdoor temperatures, but inside the office? It can feel more like autumn. A lightweight layer is essential to help you transition between climates comfortably.

Think cotton-blend blazers, airy cardigans or soft knits—pieces that add just enough warmth without feeling bulky or stifling. Keep one on hand at your desk or in your bag for those inevitable air-con chills.

Summer workwear doesn’t have to be a struggle. With the right mix of fabrics, colours, and clever styling, you can feel cool, confident, and completely office-appropriate, no matter how high the mercury rises. Dressing smartly for the season is all about ease and elegance, so embrace the warmer weather with looks that work hard and feel effortless.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH A PERSONAL STYLIST IN LONDON

If you’ve ever stood in front of your wardrobe thinking, "I have nothing to wear," despite a rail full of clothes, working with a personal stylist might just be the best decision you’ll ever make. In a fast-paced city like London, where impressions count and lifestyles are diverse, having a professional by your side to guide your wardrobe choices can be a transformative experience.

A Personal Connection, Not Just a Shopping Trip

At One Of A Style, every styling journey starts with a genuine conversation. Founder and head stylist Stefania Bartolomei believes that great style begins with understanding who you are, not just what you wear. Over a coffee (virtual or in-person), she takes time to learn about your lifestyle, personality, and the way you want to feel in your clothes.

This is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It's a bespoke experience tailored to your needs, whether you’re a busy professional, a new mum, or someone who feels like they've lost their style direction.

The Colour and Body Shape Revelation

One of the most eye-opening parts of working with a personal stylist is discovering which colours and shapes truly flatter you. Stefania’s Colour & Style Clinic is a game-changer. You’ll learn whether you’re a Soft Autumn or a Clear Winter, and finally understand why some clothes never quite felt right.

Understanding your natural colouring and body proportions empowers you to make better shopping decisions going forward — saving time, money, and frustration.

Wardrobe Detox: Out With the Old, In With the You

Once your colour palette and style direction are clear, one of our experienced stylists can help you edit your existing wardrobe. This stage is often emotional but deeply rewarding. Together, you’ll identify what works, what doesn’t, and what’s missing.

Expect to feel lighter, clearer, and more confident just from decluttering your space. Plus, you’ll stop buying duplicates of things you never wear.

Personal Shopping with Purpose

When it comes time to shop, forget overwhelming high streets or endless scrolling online. Stefania will have a pre-selected rail waiting for you in-store, or curated online options sent to your inbox.

Every item is chosen with intention, based on your colours, lifestyle, budget, and goals. And yes, there will be smiles when you look in the mirror and feel like yourself again, only better.

A Confidence Boost That Lasts

Working with a personal stylist in London is about so much more than fashion. It’s about confidence, self-expression, and feeling good in your skin. You’ll walk away not just with clothes you love, but with a renewed sense of clarity and ease around getting dressed every day.

If you’re ready to stop second-guessing your wardrobe and start showing up as your best self, Stefania and the team at One Of A Style are here to help.

Common Concerns Before Working with a Personal Stylist (And Why You Don’t Need to Worry)

“I’m worried a stylist will judge my clothes or tell me to throw everything away.”

This is a very common fear, and completely understandable. But at One Of A Style, the approach is compassionate, not critical. Our Stylists aren’t there to judge what’s in your wardrobe; they’re there to help you understand what works and why.

Most clients are surprised at how much they get to keep, and how small tweaks (like tailoring or styling differently) can make a big difference. The goal isn’t to discard everything, but to create a wardrobe that truly serves you.

“I’m not stylish enough to have a stylist.”

There’s no such thing as needing to be “fashionable enough” to deserve help. In fact, most clients reach out because they don’t feel stylish, and that’s exactly where a personal stylist makes all the difference.

As personal stylists, we work with women of all ages and backgrounds, many of whom simply want to feel like themselves again. Whether you're rebuilding confidence, changing careers, or navigating a new life stage, personal styling is about you, not trends or labels.

“Isn’t this only for celebrities or people with huge budgets?”

It’s a myth that personal styling is a luxury reserved for the rich and famous. At One Of A Style, services are structured to be flexible, accessible, and focused on value, not excess.

You’ll actually end up saving money by avoiding impulse buys, wardrobe mistakes, and duplicated items. With the right foundations in place, you shop smarter, less often, and with more confidence.

“What if the stylist doesn’t ‘get’ me?”

This is why personal styling always starts with a conversation. Before any clothes are touched, there’s time to connect, talk about how you live your life, and what you want to feel when you get dressed.

Clients often say they feel “seen” and “heard, and that’s because Stefania’s Italian approach is intuitive, warm, and grounded in real life. You’re not a project or a Pinterest board. You’re a person, and your style journey should reflect that.

Your Common Questions

Do I need a big budget to work with a personal stylist?

We work with a variety of budgets, but many of our clients are looking to invest in quality pieces and build a wardrobe that reflects their lifestyle and aspirations. Whether you favour luxury brands or a refined high street mix, the focus is on intentional shopping; selecting timeless, flattering pieces that elevate your personal style and offer long-term value.

Will I have to change my entire wardrobe?

No. The focus is on building a wardrobe that reflects you. You’ll keep what works, learn how to style it differently, and only add what’s missing, thoughtfully and intentionally.

Is personal styling just about fashion?

Personal styling is about so much more than clothes. It’s about confidence, clarity, and self-expression. Many clients describe the experience as transformational, not just in how they dress, but how they feel.

Can I do everything online?

Yes! One Of A Style offers online colour and style consultations, as well as curated online shopping. Whether you're in London or anywhere else, you can still enjoy a full personal styling experience.

I’m not sure what service I need. How do I start?

Start with a free introductory chat. One of our experienced personal stylists will help you explore the options, from Colour Clinics to Wardrobe Edits to Personal Shopping, and recommend the best place to begin.

PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: SUMMER HOLIDAY PACKING GUIDE

Packing for a summer holiday can often feel like a daunting task—especially when you're trying to fit everything into a small suitcase while still looking stylish. The key is to focus on versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched to create multiple outfits. Here’s how to pack light and still have a range of fashionable options for your summer getaway.

1. Stick to Pieces You Know You Love

A holiday is not the time to add quirky pieces you never wear. You may end up feeling more stressed when dressing while on holiday. So, I recommend that you only pack garments that you love wearing, know how to style, and can easily put together. For example, if you love wearing dresses, pack your favourites for the events you are planning for the break. If you prefer two pieces, opt for this.

One way to make sure you only pack pieces you will effortlessly wear throughout your holiday, is to put them on before you pack them. See how many outfits you can create that you feel confident in, and then put them in the bag!

2. Pack Multi-Purpose Pieces

Look for items that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. A simple black dress can be worn to a casual beach dinner or dressed up with accessories for a more formal evening event. Likewise, a well-fitted pair of trousers or shorts can be paired with a blouse for daytime sightseeing or with a dressy top for an elegant night out. Items such as a light cardigan, a wrap dress, or a simple jumpsuit can easily be styled for multiple occasions, helping you save valuable luggage space.

3. Choose Comfortable Footwear

Comfortable footwear is essential when packing for a holiday. Choose shoes that can take you from day trips to evening outings without compromising style. A pair of versatile sandals, comfortable flats, and a pair of dressy heels or wedges will cover all your needs. If you're planning on walking or exploring, comfortable sneakers or espadrilles are a must. A lightweight pair of flip-flops can also come in handy for lounging by the pool.

4. Don’t Forget to Check the Forecast!

While it’s important to pack light, it’s equally essential to include items that will work for the weather you are going to encounter. Whether it’s sunscreen and mosquito sprays for warmer climates, or a light denim jacket for the cooler evenings as a layering piece. If you are going somewhere that is expecting cooler weather, a cotton cardigan or even a raincoat if showers are on the horizon. Using the weather to align your packing will really help when planning.

5. Embrace the Power of Accessories

Accessories are a great way to transform simple outfits into stylish, holiday-ready looks. A bright scarf if the weather allows it, a statement necklace, or a colourful tote bag can all add personality and flair to your outfits. Since accessories don’t take up much space in your suitcase, they’re the perfect way to maximise your wardrobe without adding extra bulk.

PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: DAY-TO-NIGHT OUTFIT IDEAS FOR WORKING WOMEN

As a busy professional woman, you likely need outfits that can seamlessly transition from day to night. Whether you’re heading to an after-work meeting, a networking event, or a dinner date, having a wardrobe that works double duty can save you time and stress. Here’s how to transform your workwear into chic evening outfits with just a few strategic tweaks.

1. Start with a Versatile Base

The key to making the transition from day to night is to start with a versatile base. A simple sheath dress or tailored trousers paired with a smart blouse works well for the office. These pieces are easy to dress up or down, so you can easily shift from professional to chic in no time. Opt for neutral colours or subtle prints that will pair effortlessly with a range of accessories and shoes.

2. Add Statement Accessories

When transitioning to evening, accessories can make all the difference. Swap your daytime jewellery for something bolder—think statement earrings, a chunky bracelet, or a striking necklace. A stylish clutch can replace your daytime work bag, instantly elevating your look. Bold accessories can add a sense of glamour to your outfit without requiring a full outfit change.

3. Change Your Footwear

Footwear is one of the quickest and easiest ways to switch from day to night. If you’ve been wearing flat shoes or low heels during the day, consider switching to something more glamorous for the evening. A pair of stilettos, pointed-toe heels, or elegant mules will instantly transform your outfit, adding height and sophistication.

4. Layer with a Statement Jacket or Blazer

A chic, tailored jacket can easily take you from a professional office look to an elegant evening outfit. For a more casual dinner, opt for a sleek leather jacket to add edge, or go for a statement blazer to enhance your confidence. A well-fitted jacket can change the vibe of your outfit, making it suitable for both work and social events.

5. Add a Pop of Colour

Sometimes, the simplest way to transition from day to night is by adding a pop of colour. A red lipstick, a bright scarf, or a bold handbag can refresh your look and give it a more playful, evening-ready feel. Don’t be afraid to embrace deeper tones, such as burgundy or navy, to add sophistication and elegance to your outfit.

6. Change the bottom from tailored trousers or a pencil skirt to a statement piece

If you have enough space in your bag, or if you want to really make an impact, change your more professional bottoms into a statement piece. This could be a patterned maxi skirt, a bright pair of trousers, or a bottom with added texture such as frills, tassels or pleats.

These are just a few ways to transform your office look to work in a simple yet effective way. If you’d love to learn more ways to transform your wardrobe to suit your day-to-day needs as well as for special occasions, but don’t know where to start, we can help.

PERSONAL STYLING TIP: CONFIDENCE-BOOSTING OUTFITS FOR THE WORKPLACE

Dressing for success isn’t just about wearing the right clothes—it’s about wearing clothes that make you feel empowered, ready to tackle any challenge, and represent your personal style. Whether you’re in a high-level meeting or managing a team, the right outfit can have a huge impact on how you’re perceived and, more importantly, how you feel. Here’s how to power dress with confidence, all while staying true to your individuality.

Start with Tailored Basics

Tailored pieces are the foundation of power dressing. A well-fitted blazer, for example, can instantly make you look put-together and authoritative. Look for blazers that cinch at the waist and pair them with trousers or skirts that follow your natural shape. When shopping for blouses or shirts, opt for structured fabrics—like cotton or silk—that can hold their shape and lend a polished look. Stick to classic colours such as black, navy, white, or gray for versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched effortlessly.

Play with Bold Colours and Patterns

While classic colours are great for a professional wardrobe, don’t shy away from incorporating bold colours and patterns into your look. A deep red dress, a navy pencil skirt with a geometric print, or a statement blouse with a fun design can add an element of personality to your outfits. Remember, power dressing isn’t about blending in—it’s about standing out in a way that feels authentic to you. Use colour and pattern to make a statement about your confidence and individuality.

Accessorise to Elevate Your Look

Accessories can elevate your professional look and add the finishing touch to your outfit. A pair of classic pearl earrings, a bold necklace, or a sophisticated watch can instantly transform a simple outfit into something striking. However, it’s important not to over-accessorise—choose one or two key pieces to make a statement without overwhelming your look. A sleek handbag that matches your outfit can also be a powerful addition, allowing you to carry everything you need while staying polished.

Shoes That Speak Volumes

Shoes are often the first thing people notice, so make sure they reflect your sense of style and professionalism. A pair of pointed-toe heels can exude confidence, while loafers or flats with a structured design offer both comfort and authority. Opt for shoes that are comfortable enough for you to walk in with ease but also stylish enough to command respect. Remember, power dressing doesn’t have to mean sacrificing comfort for style—choose footwear that makes you feel confident while allowing you to focus on the tasks at hand.

Fit and Comfort Are Key

No matter how stylish an outfit is, it won’t give you the confidence you need if it’s uncomfortable or doesn’t fit right. When power dressing, always prioritise fit and comfort. Tailoring your clothes to your exact measurements will help you look and feel your best. Invest in key pieces that are made from high-quality materials, such as wool or silk, which not only look better but also feel more comfortable throughout the day.

How Personal Styling Can Enhance Your Confidence

Power dressing is a skill, and it’s one that can be learned. If you’re struggling to find the right balance between professionalism and personal style, my personal styling services can help you create a wardrobe that exudes confidence and sophistication. Together, we’ll curate outfits that make you feel empowered and ready to take on any challenge—whether that’s leading a meeting, networking at an event, or simply owning your space in the workplace.

As the chill of winter fades away and the days begin to lengthen, it’s the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe for the new season. Spring fashion isn’t just about embracing bold colours and floral prints—it’s about incorporating trends that not only look great but also work seamlessly for the busy, professional woman. Whether you’re managing a team, running your own business, or excelling in your career, the right wardrobe can help you feel confident, empowered, and ready for any challenge. Here are the top five spring trends every professional woman should know about to stay stylish and sophisticated.

1. Tailored, Relaxed Silhouettes: Effortless Yet Polished

This season, the focus is on comfort without sacrificing style. Tailored, relaxed silhouettes are making a big splash in professional wardrobes, offering a perfect blend of structure and ease. Think oversized blazers, wide-legged trousers, and relaxed-fit skirts that allow you to move comfortably throughout your busy day. These pieces are not only chic but versatile, giving you the freedom to mix and match with various outfits while maintaining a polished, professional look.

For a balanced, stylish office look, pair a relaxed blazer with a fitted blouse or a simple t-shirt underneath. Combine with wide-leg trousers for a sophisticated yet comfortable outfit, perfect for meetings or client presentations. These styles give you the flexibility to move between the office and after-work events with ease and confidence.

2. Bold Colours and Soft Pastels: A Fresh Take on Professional Wear

Spring is the season of renewal, and what better way to refresh your wardrobe than with a pop of colour? Bold, vibrant hues are taking centre stage, alongside the soft pastels that are typically associated with the season. These colours are great for expressing your personality while keeping your look professional. Whether you’re wearing a cobalt blue dress or a mustard yellow blazer, bold colours make a powerful statement and give you a boost of confidence. For a more subtle look, consider integrating pastel shades like lavender, soft peach, or mint green into your outfits for an airy, fresh feel.

If you’re looking for a way to incorporate bold colours without overwhelming your outfit, start small with accessories. A vibrant handbag or a colourful scarf can elevate a neutral outfit and add a stylish twist. For those who prefer a more understated look, pastels in suits or blouses can still make a sophisticated impact while adding a touch of spring to your daily wear.

3. Comfortable Yet Chic Flats: The New Office Staple

Gone are the days when high heels were a necessity for professional attire. This spring, comfortable flats are taking over as the go-to footwear for busy women. From classic ballet flats to pointed-toe loafers and sleek mules, flats are versatile and stylish while allowing you to stay on your feet all day without discomfort. These shoes are perfect for women who need to transition seamlessly from office work to meetings, all while staying stylish.

Pair your flats with tailored trousers or a pencil skirt for a polished look. If you prefer dresses, opt for a midi dress and finish the look with flats to strike the perfect balance between chic and practical. This trend not only keeps your feet comfortable but also ensures you exude effortless elegance, no matter where your day takes you.

4. Sustainable Fabrics: Fashion with Purpose

As sustainability continues to be a growing concern, more fashion brands are focusing on creating beautiful clothes with eco-friendly materials. This spring, it’s all about embracing fabrics that are both stylish and sustainable. Look for pieces made from organic cotton, linen, or recycled polyester, which not only have a minimal environmental impact but also feel breathable and comfortable—perfect for the warmer spring months.

Incorporating sustainable fabrics into your wardrobe doesn’t mean sacrificing style. A linen blouse or an organic cotton dress can be both chic and eco-conscious. Not only will you feel good about your fashion choices, but you’ll also be making a positive impact on the planet. With so many brands now offering sustainable options, it’s easier than ever to curate a wardrobe that aligns with your values while staying on trend.

5. Statement Sleeves: Bold and Beautiful Details

Spring 2025 is all about details, and statement sleeves are leading the charge. Whether it’s puffed sleeves, oversized cuffs, or asymmetrical designs, these bold sleeve styles can instantly elevate a simple blouse or dress. Statement sleeves are a great way to inject personality into your professional wardrobe while keeping the look sophisticated.

A blouse with voluminous sleeves or a dress featuring dramatic cuffs can transform an otherwise simple outfit into something truly eye-catching. For a more subtle take on this trend, opt for sleeves with delicate ruffles or soft pleats that add texture without overwhelming your look. Pair with tailored trousers or a pencil skirt to keep the outfit balanced and office-appropriate.

How to Incorporate These Trends Into Your Wardrobe

Spring is the perfect opportunity to refresh your wardrobe and incorporate new trends that will boost your confidence and reflect your unique style. When incorporating these trends into your professional wardrobe, remember to keep things balanced. You can mix and match bold colours, statement pieces, and comfortable yet chic basics to create a wardrobe that works for both your professional and personal life.

If you’re feeling uncertain about how to blend these trends seamlessly into your current wardrobe or need help curating a stylish, functional collection that’s tailored to your needs, I offer personal styling services that will guide you every step of the way. Together, we can create a wardrobe that helps you feel confident, powerful, and ready to take on anything the season brings.

HOW TO BECOME A PERSONAL STYLIST

A guide for those who love fashion—and want to make a difference

Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “I know exactly what would bring out their best features”? Or maybe you’ve helped a friend find the perfect dress and watched their confidence instantly lift. If that sounds like you, you might be ready to explore a career in personal styling.

I’m Stefania, founder of One Of A Style, and I work with real people who want to feel more confident, more visible, and more themselves, through what they wear. My journey into styling was born from a love of fashion, a desire to connect with people, and years of working in the industry. Here’s what I’ve learned—and how you can start your own path.

London Personal Stylist Stefania Bartelomei, in front of a clothes rack for a capsule wardrobe

My Story: How I Became a Personal Stylist

My journey began in Florence, where fashion is in the air we breathe. I trained in Fashion Design and spent nearly a decade working behind the scenes in the industry—sketching, sourcing, creating. But something was missing. I loved fashion, but I wanted more connection. I wanted to work with real people, not just runway samples.

I moved to London with no network, no clients, and no blueprint. I started from scratch. I had to build trust, one styling session at a time. I said yes to opportunities that scared me and stayed true to my values—always listening, always learning, and never compromising on integrity.

Now, I've styled hundreds of women, collaborated with brands, been featured in publications, and even spoken on stage—but I still remember those early days. And if I can do it, you can too.

Step 1: Get Clear on What a Personal Stylist Really Does

It’s not about trends or runway looks. It’s about people.

A good personal stylist doesn’t dress people for Instagram. They dress them for their everyday life—their work meetings, their school runs, their date nights, their big moments. It’s about confidence and connection, not just colour palettes and hemlines.

You’ll need:

  • An understanding of body shapes and proportions

  • A good eye for colour and fit

  • Strong listening skills

  • Patience, empathy, and creativity

If you love clothes and people, you’re already halfway there.

Step 2: Start Learning the Foundations

You don’t need a fashion degree to be a great stylist, but you do need knowledge. Begin with:

  • Body shapes and how to flatter them

  • Colour analysis and seasonal palettes

  • Wardrobe editing techniques

  • How to shop smart—for others, not just yourself

  • Personal branding and style identity

There are online courses, books, and even Instagram stylists you can learn from. The key is to keep learning and test everything on real people, not mannequins.

Step 3: Practice with Real People

You learn styling by doing styling. Start where you are:

  • Offer to help friends or family edit their wardrobes

  • Style someone for an event

  • Create looks from what they already own

  • Try personal shopping on a small budget

You’ll quickly learn to read people’s needs, adapt your approach, and build trust, which is at the heart of what we do.

Step 4: Develop Your Style Point of View

Your clients will come to you because of your personality, not just your style. So start asking yourself:

  • What do I believe makes someone stylish?

  • What’s my approach to confidence, identity, and clothes?

  • Do I love classic, bold, feminine, edgy, or something else?

This is how you start building your brand, whether online, offline, or through word of mouth.

Step 5: Start Showing Up

Even before you’re fully “ready,” start sharing your passion.

  • Post outfit ideas, colour tips, or wardrobe insights

  • Talk about your styling experiments

  • Share client stories (with permission)

  • Build a simple website or Instagram presence

You’re not expected to be perfect, just real and relatable.

Step 6: Connect with Those Who Inspire You

No stylist becomes successful alone. Surrounding yourself with people who challenge and inspire you will accelerate your growth in ways you can’t imagine.

Follow stylists you admire. Reach out to people in the industry. Ask questions. Stay curious.

And if my story, approach, or values resonate with you, I’d love to hear from you.
Whether you’re just starting out or taking the first brave steps into this career, I’m always happy to share insights or simply connect.

>> Work with me or get in touch

Step 7: Launch Your Styling Services (When You’re Ready—Really Ready)

Once you’ve built your knowledge, gained hands-on experience, and grown your confidence, you might feel ready to offer paid services. That’s a huge step—and one worth taking with care and intention.

Before you fully go solo, I always recommend:

  • Working alongside experienced stylists, if you can observe, assist, and learn

  • Being honest with clients about where you are in your journey

  • Offering clear, well-defined services that reflect what you can do (not what you think you “should” do)

  • Pricing your services in a way that reflects your experience and the transformation you provide

One Golden Rule Above

And above all, respect the people you work with.
That means not copying their materials, not taking credit for their ideas, and absolutely not poaching clients. There’s space for all of us in this industry, but only if we operate with integrity and respect.

Take inspiration, learn generously, but always create your own voice, your own brand, and your own way of serving.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just a clear heart, an honest approach, and the courage to start where you are.

In this industry, your name is your brand.

What I’ve never done and not done:

  • I’ve never copied someone else’s materials

  • I’ve never poached clients

  • I’ve never pretended to be further along than I was

I’ve built One Of A Style with honesty, kindness, and originality, and you can too.

That includes how you invest in yourself: Photography? Worth budgeting for. A great website? Helpful. But nothing replaces authenticity. Take inspiration, but build your own voice.

And remember: there’s room for collaboration, not just competition

Styling can feel like a solo journey, but it doesn’t have to be. Reach out to others in the industry, ask questions, offer help, and share ideas. Some of the most rewarding opportunities in my career have come from genuine collaboration, not rivalry.

When you lead with kindness, creativity, and integrity, you’ll always find your people, and your place.

HOW TO DRESS YOUR BUST: FLATTERING STYLE TIPS FOR EVERY SIZE

"I wish I could find clothes that flatter my shape without having to hide my bust." We hear this all the time—whether you’re curvier up top or have a petite frame, dressing your bust can feel unnecessarily frustrating.

how to dress your bust, personal stylist tips

At One Of A Style, we believe style should empower you—not restrict you. That’s why we’re sharing our favourite tips to help you dress your bust with confidence, clarity, and joy—no matter your cup size.

First Things First: The Foundation

The single biggest style shift most of our clients make? Getting their lingerie right. Before you even think about necklines or fabrics, make sure your bra is supporting you properly.

Try this before your next outfit—tighten your bra straps. You might be amazed at how your whole silhouette lifts.

best necklines for different bust types

Your Bust Styling Essentials:

  • Annual bra fittings – Department stores like Selfridges or Rigby & Peller offer expert fittings.

  • A solid lingerie toolkit – We recommend a t-shirt bra, plunge, strapless, skin-toned, and sports bra at a minimum.

  • Strap checks – Saggy straps = saggy bustline. Don’t skip this tiny but powerful tweak.

What to Wear:

What if You Have a Large Bust and a Full Midsection?

How to Dress a Large Bust and a Tummy

Not all larger busts come with the same proportions—and having a fuller tummy (or being plus-size in general) can make styling feel even more complicated. But with the right pieces, you can feel balanced, comfortable, and confident.

What to Wear

  • Tops that skim, not cling—look for soft fabrics that drape rather than stretch

  • Empire waistlines that fall just under the bust help define shape and create flow

  • Structured wrap tops or mock-wrap styles are excellent for bust and midsection

  • Vertical prints, open layers (like a long cardigan or duster), and monochrome palettes elongate the torso

  • Dresses with ruching or a twist at the waist can define curves while creating movement

    What to Avoid

  • Shapeless oversized tops that hide your body and make you look bigger than you are
High necks that shorten your upper body

  • Bulky fabrics or layered tops that add unnecessary volume around your midsection

Dressing an Hourglass Body with a Larger Bust

If you're curvy with a defined waist—even if you're plus-size—you have something many people try to create with clothes: natural balance. The trick is not hiding it, but highlighting it intentionally.

What to Wear

  • Wrap dresses and tops are your best friends

  • High-waisted trousers or skirts with tucked-in tops to highlight your waist

  • Belted coats or dresses to draw attention to your shape

  • Fitted knits that hug but don’t over-stretch

Proportional Tips

  • Always show where your waist is—even with layers

  • Don’t be afraid of form-fitting, especially when the fabric has structure

  • Peplum cuts can work well if they sit at your natural waist

How to Dress a Small Bust

Smaller busts often come with more flexibility—but also more confusion. Many of our clients say: “I have all the options but nothing ever looks quite right.” Sound familiar?

Best necklines for small busts

Best Necklines:

Boat neck, High necks, Crew neck, Soft scoop or gentle v, Halter neck, Roll neck

What to Wear:

Textured fabrics, gathers, or ruffles near the bust, blouses with pockets or pleats on the bust, padded or shaping bras for more definition, horizontal stripes or prints to add volume

Avoid:

Deep plunges and sweetheart necklines (unless you're after a more minimal bust appearance), baggy or overly tight tops

Want a more defined silhouette? A softly structured top with print or texture works wonders. Need help shopping for your shape? Get styling guidance here.

How to Dress a Medium Bust

Right in the middle? Lucky you! You get the best of both worlds. But with that comes choices—so let’s keep it simple and impactful.

best necklines for medium bust

Best Necklines

V-neck, Scoop, Sweetheart, Boat neck, Square or halter necklines

What to Wear

Tops that gently follow your shape—not oversized, not clingy, monochromatic outfits to streamline your upper half, good-quality, well-fitted bras to maintain lift and shape

Avoid

Chunky jewellery that sits right on the bust, crewnecks that can broaden the chest visually.

Need help understanding what fits you and why? Book a wardrobe review session or check out our style foundation services.

Quick Tips for Every Bust Size

Sometimes it’s the smallest changes that make the biggest impact:

  • Get a professional bra fitting

  • Re-tighten straps every few wears

  • Avoid over-detailing near the bust

  • Know your best neckline

  • Focus on proportion, not perfection

“It’s not about hiding or flaunting—it’s about understanding your shape so you can enjoy dressing it.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What neckline is best for a large bust?

V-neck, scoop neck, sweetheart, and wrap styles tend to flatter most fuller busts.

Can small busts wear high necklines?

Absolutely! Boat necks, halters, and high crew necks can all look gorgeous—especially with added texture or print.

Should medium busts avoid embellishments?

Moderation is key. Light detail is fine, but oversized ruffles or heavy chest prints can visually exaggerate your bust.

Where can I get a bra fitting in London?

Try Rigby & Peller, Selfridges, or John Lewis for professional fittings.

My Interview on Ignites Europe: How Gen Z Is Redefining Corporate Style

As Gen Z enters the workforce in full force, corporate dress codes are being rewritten. In this blog, I share my insights from a recent Ignites Europe article on how workwear is evolving—and what it means for professionals navigating today’s blurred lines between casual and formal.

As featured in "Gen Z shakes up corporate dress codes" by Vibeka Mair, IGNITES EUROPE, 1 April 2025

Office style is shifting—and fast. With more employees heading back to the office after years of hybrid work, companies are facing a new challenge: what is appropriate to wear to work these days? According to a recent article by Vibeka Mair for Ignites Europe, the answer is being heavily influenced by a new generation—Gen Z.

This younger workforce is not only stepping into office life for the first time, but also rewriting the rules around dress codes with their values of authenticity, comfort, and individuality. I had the pleasure of sharing my perspective in the piece, particularly from my experience working with professionals in finance and law. Here are the key excerpts from the article where I was quoted:

“Gen Z is bringing a more relaxed and individualistic approach to workwear. They prioritise authenticity, comfort and self-expression over strict adherence to corporate norms.

This generation is more likely to challenge traditional expectations – wearing trainers, choosing statement pieces and incorporating trends into their office attire.”

Gen Z isn’t the only generation feeling the effects of changing norms. After years of dressing down for remote work, many professionals now find themselves navigating a style grey zone—neither formal nor entirely casual.

“Hybrid working blurred the lines between office and home attire, and as a result traditional corporate dress codes have relaxed.

In industries like finance, where client-facing roles are common, dressing appropriately can enhance how seriously you are taken.”

While finance and legal environments remain among the more traditionally dressed sectors, the shift toward smart-casual has become more pronounced.

“There’s been a shift towards more smart-casual dressing, [such as] structured blazers with knitwear instead of full suits, smart trousers paired with more relaxed footwear, and an overall preference for comfort.”

And this change brings its own challenges—especially for those trying to find the right balance in their evolving work wardrobe.

“Some feel pressure to dress up after years of dressing more casually, while others are unsure where the new boundaries lie.

The challenge is striking the right balance: looking polished without feeling overdressed in an environment that is no longer strictly formal.”

As a style coach, I believe this transition offers a valuable opportunity—not just for Gen Z, but for professionals at every stage of their career—to rethink how they show up at work. The key is to remain polished and intentional while letting personality shine through.

HOW TO PUT AN OUTFIT TOGETHER (Without the Stress)

Learn how to put an outfit together with confidence. Personal stylist tips, outfit formulas, seasonal advice, and a free planner to simplify your style.

As a personal stylist, I’ve met so many women who feel overwhelmed by their wardrobes. They’ve got plenty of clothes but somehow still feel like they have “nothing to wear.” Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing: putting an outfit together isn’t about having more clothes. It’s about making intentional choices—knowing what suits you, what makes you feel confident, and how to combine the pieces you already love. Once you understand a few key principles, it gets easier (and more fun!) to get dressed every day.

Let me walk you through the exact steps I use with my clients to help them put together outfits they actually want to wear.

Step 1: Start With Your Day

Before you dive into colours, shapes, or accessories, pause and ask yourself: What does today look like?

Are you working from home? Going to meetings? School run and then brunch? Your outfit should reflect what your day demands—and how you want to feel while living it.

I always say: if it’s not comfortable, you won’t wear it. If it doesn’t feel like you, you won’t feel confident in it. So begin with the practical stuff—weather, walking, meetings, dress codes—and build from there.

Stylist tip: Think of your outfit like a building. Your lifestyle is the foundation. Start there and everything else becomes easier.

Step 2: Know Your Style Personality

This is the part most people skip—but it’s key.

Your style personality is how your wardrobe reflects you. It’s that invisible thread that connects all the pieces you love. Are you more classic or creative? Minimalist or romantic? Edgy or effortless?

When I work with personal styling clients, we often discover they’ve been dressing for someone else’s lifestyle—or someone else’s idea of what they “should” wear. That’s when outfits start to feel off.

Take a look at your Pinterest board, the clothes you always reach for, or the pieces that bring compliments. These are clues. Your style personality isn’t something you force—it’s something you uncover.

Stylist tip: Pick three words you’d love people to use when describing your look. That’s your starting point.

Step 3: Dress for Your Shape (Not the Trend)

Trends come and go. But understanding your body shape? That’s timeless.

Whether you're curvy, petite, tall, straight, or somewhere in-between, there are styles that will always feel better on you. When you learn to balance proportions and highlight your favourite features, you stop chasing every trend—and start building a wardrobe that works.

The goal is never to hide your body, but to dress it in a way that feels flattering and intentional. It’s about choosing cuts, lengths, and silhouettes that make you feel good, not self-conscious.

Stylist tip: Instead of asking “Does this fit?” try asking “Does this balance me out?” and “Do I feel great in this?”

Step 4: Use Colour to Your Advantage

Colour can make or break an outfit. The right shades will make your skin glow, your eyes pop, and your outfit feel instantly more polished—even if you’re just wearing jeans and a tee.

That doesn’t mean you have to wear brights if you’re a neutral lover. It’s about knowing your undertone and choosing colours that work with it.

If you've never had a colour analysis, it’s one of the most powerful tools in styling. Clients often tell me it’s the moment things "clicked"—shopping gets easier, mixing and matching becomes effortless, and outfits just start to work.

Stylist tip: If you're ever unsure, wear your best neutral close to your face—like ivory, charcoal, navy, or camel—and add colour through accessories.

Step 5: Build Around One Hero Piece

Here’s where the fun begins.

Every great outfit starts with one key piece. It could be a patterned skirt, a well-cut blazer, a silk blouse you love, or even a pair of boots you’re excited to wear. Start with that item, and build the rest of your outfit around it.

Ask yourself:

  • What complements this piece without competing?

  • Do I need to balance the volume (e.g. slim trousers with an oversized knit)?

  • Should I keep the rest of the outfit simple to let this item shine?

This keeps things focused—and helps you avoid the trap of trying on everything you own.

Stylist tip: If you feel stuck, browse your camera roll. Look at outfits you’ve worn and loved, then rebuild them with a fresh twist.

Step 6: Add Layers & Accessories with Intention

Accessories are the secret sauce. They can elevate a basic outfit, tie everything together, or shift your look from casual to polished in seconds. But the key word here is intention.

Choose one or two statement elements—like a bold necklace, a great handbag, or a printed scarf—and let them do the talking. Don’t feel the need to overdo it. Sometimes, a single belt or pair of earrings can change the feel of your entire outfit.

And then there’s layering. Cardigans, jackets, blazers—they add depth and interest. Plus, they’re practical when the weather can’t decide what it’s doing.

Stylist tip: A third layer (even a light one) almost always makes an outfit feel more “finished.”

If this is the part that overwhelms you—shopping for those key pieces or knowing what to invest in—I can help. My personal shopper sessions are all about finding pieces that work for you, your shape, your lifestyle, and your budget. Whether it’s building a capsule wardrobe or choosing outfits for a special occasion, I’ll take the stress out of the process.

Step 7: Check for Balance – Style, Comfort, Proportion

You’ve pulled your outfit together—great. But before you walk out the door, do a quick “balance check.”

Look in the mirror and ask:

  • Is the outfit balanced in terms of shape? (e.g. if the top is voluminous, is the bottom more fitted—or vice versa?)

  • Do the colours and textures complement each other?

  • Do I feel comfortable—not just physically, but emotionally? Would I feel confident walking into a room like this?

This step is less about following rules and more about noticing how everything works together. Sometimes, it’s one small tweak—a tucked-in top, a cuffed sleeve, a swap of shoes—that makes the outfit really sing.

Stylist tip: Snap a mirror selfie! It’s often easier to spot what’s working (and what’s not) when you step back and look at a photo.

Common Outfit Mistakes to Avoid

Even the most stylish people make these sometimes:

  • Wearing too many statement pieces at once – It’s easy to go overboard. Let one item shine.

  • Forgetting about fit – A blazer that almost fits will always feel “off.” Tailoring makes a big difference.

  • Choosing function over style or vice versa – A great outfit does both.

  • Ignoring proportions – Balance bulky items with something sleeker.

  • Wearing clothes that don’t feel like you – You should feel comfortable and confident, not like you're in costume.

Extra Tips for Everyday Style Success

  • Plan the night before. Mornings are easier when you already know what you’re wearing.

  • Keep a “yes” section in your wardrobe. These are pieces you always feel good in.

  • Have a few outfit formulas. E.g. blazer + tee + jeans, or knit + midi skirt + boots.

  • Check the weather app. Honestly, it saves so many regrets.

Style Made Simple: Easy Outfit Formulas

If you ever feel stuck, use these outfit formulas as your starting point. They work for a range of body shapes, personal styles, and lifestyles—just swap pieces to suit your wardrobe.

How to Adapt Your Outfit Formulas for the Seasons

Outfit formulas are flexible—but the key to making them work year-round is knowing how to seasonalise them. Here’s how to tweak the same base outfit to suit different weather, fabrics, and moods throughout the year.

Let’s take one core formula

Blazer + Top + Trousers + Shoes

Spring outfit idea

🌸 Spring Outfit

  • Choose a lightweight blazer in soft tones (think sage, blush, or ivory)

  • Add a cotton or linen top

  • Go for cropped trousers or ankle-grazers

  • Pair with loafers or white trainers

  • Add a silk scarf or a structured tote

Summar Capsule Wardrobe

☀️ Summer Outfit

  • Swap the blazer for a linen waistcoat or go sleeveless

  • Choose a breathable tank or cami

  • Opt for light, wide-leg trousers or culottes

  • Finish with sandals or espadrilles

  • Add bold jewellery or a straw bag for texture

🍂 Autumn Outfit

  • Go with a structured blazer in a rich, earthy tone (rust, olive, or navy)

  • Choose a long-sleeved jersey or knit top

  • Switch to heavier trousers—cords or wool blends

  • Add ankle boots

  • Layer in a fine knit or lightweight turtleneck underneath for added warmth

❄️ Winter Outfit

  • Use a wool or tweed blazer, layered over a thermal or cashmere knit

  • Add thermal tights or layer under trousers with leggings

  • Pair with chunky boots or lined ankle boots

  • Wrap up with a coat, scarf, and gloves—but keep the base outfit stylish

Stylist tip: Keep your core formula the same—just update the fabrics, colours, and accessories to reflect the season.

Your Turn – Plan a Week of Outfits

If you’ve made it this far, challenge yourself: plan five outfits for the week ahead using what you’ve just learned.

Start with:

  • One hero piece you haven’t worn in a while

  • A colour combo you haven’t tried before

  • An accessory you’ve forgotten you own

You don’t need a whole new wardrobe. You just need a fresh approach.

Confidence Over Perfection

Style isn’t about getting it perfect—it’s about feeling like yourself. Trust your instincts, play a little, and don’t be afraid to try something new.

And if you ever need a bit of help—from discovering your best colours to redefining your whole wardrobe—I’m here. You can explore my personal styling, colour analysis, or personal shopping services, or simply drop me a message to say hello.

Happy outfit planning!

SEASONAL LIPSTICKS - HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT COLOUR LIPSTICK FOR YOUR SKIN TONE

If you’re looking to discover the best lipstick shades for your skin tone then you’re in luck. I found some of my top picks at my recent event with Charlotte Tilbury to celebrate the launch of their eyeshadow palettes based on colour theory at their Covent Garden store in April 2025.

I was honoured to have been asked to host a special event in April 2025 in collaboration with the iconic Charlotte Tilbury make-up brand.

In this event, we explored the power of colour using Charlotte Tilbury’s best-selling and newly launched products, including stunning eyeshadow palettes based on colour theory!

This was a dream come true. I’ve been wanting to collaborate with a beauty brand for so long, and I couldn’t be happier that it’s with one of the best in the industry!

When I help my clients with a colour analysis, we go through the “seasons” to discover which works best for their colouring – these are easy to understand and discover, and once we have found out their season, we can then find out the colours that work perfectly for them. This isn’t just with clothing, however, which is transformative enough, but it also is with make-up and particularly with lipstick!

With this in mind, and with such an incredible selection of lipsticks to choose from by Charlotte Tilbury, I have created a guide below to help you discover the best shades, based on your season.

If you haven’t discovered your season yet, you can book your very own colour analysis session with me that I can hold face to face or online.

Lipsticks for Summers:

For my summer clients, you usually have cool undertones with low contrast between hair and skin. Light and soft or muted colours are great for you!

For them, I like to use the Red Carpet Pink hue of the Hollywood Beauty Icon Lipstick as a light option. For a soft option, you can choose the 90’s pink shade of the same lipstick style, which is a satin shine finish with a conditioning & moisturising feel. If you prefer a cool option, try the shade Rose to Fame - a perfect mauve rose for Summers.

Summer 2.png

Best Lipstick Colours for Springs:

Springs tend to have clear colourings, with warm, golden undertones. When it comes to make up, the best colours for you are light and bright.

For my Spring clients, I like to use the Love Bite shade for a brighter option and the for a warmer option I recommend the Coral Kiss shade. If you’re looking for a lighter lipstick as a Spring, try the Candy Chic shade.

Spring 1.png
Spring 2.png

Top Lipstick Colours for Winters:

Winters have cool undertones and tend to work best with deep colours, their skin, hair and eyes have quite a high contrast between them, the make up I often recommend for winters is deeper in hue.

For a bold lipstick option, I highly recommend trying out the Red Carpet shade of Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution, while for a more cool option, I love the shade The Queen, while the shade Night Crimson is an excellent choice for a deeper, bolder shade.

Winter 1.png
Winter 2.png

Lipstick Colours for Autumns:

Finally, my Autumns, which are warm with golden undertones, and have usually a deep overall colouring and low contrast between skin, hair and eyes. Soft, deeper and warmer hues work beautifully on them.

Some of my top picks from the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick collection include So Red for a deep shade, whereas Pillow Talk is a soft, gentle shade for their skintone. For a warmer option, try out Stoned Rose - it will look fabulous on your skin!

Autumn 1.png
Autumn 2.png

As you can see, the right colour make-up can work perfectly to uplift and brighten your face, and when you do discover those colours that work for you, it not only boosts your confidence but also saves you money. If you’ve ever put on make-up or clothes and just feel like they’re not quite right but can’t put your finger on it, it may be because the colour isn’t the best fit for your skin tone and colouring. Understanding these little tricks can help, which is why I love doing what I do so much.

PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: HOW TO TRANSITION YOUR WARDROBE FROM WINTER TO SPRING WITH EASE

As the weather warms and the days lengthen, it’s time to refresh your wardrobe and make the transition from winter to spring. Layering is key during this seasonal change, and the right clothing can help you stay stylish, comfortable, and prepared for unpredictable weather.

As the weather warms and the days lengthen, it’s time to refresh your wardrobe and make the transition from winter to spring. Layering is key during this seasonal change, and the right clothing can help you stay stylish, comfortable, and prepared for unpredictable weather.

Start with Lighter Layers

While winter clothes often focus on heavy materials like wool and fleece, spring calls for lighter fabrics that still offer warmth and coverage.

Consider swapping out thick sweaters for lighter knit tops or long-sleeve blouses.

spring wardrobe capsule

A classic trench coat is perfect for layering and can be worn over almost any outfit, from dresses to professional pantsuits.

spring wardrobe

Adding lightweight scarves or shawls can also provide extra warmth during the cooler mornings and evenings while still allowing you to maintain a fresh, springtime feel.

Incorporate Spring Colours into Your Wardrobe

Spring is the time to embrace soft, refreshing colours that symbolize renewal. Think pastels, light neutrals, and floral prints. Swap out your deep, moody winter hues for shades like lavender, pale blue, mint green, or soft pink.

Choosing colours for your spring outfits and wardrobe

If you prefer a more neutral palette, consider warm tones like light beige, camel, or light grey, which still give you versatility but with a fresh, spring-inspired twist. Adding a few colourful accessories, such as scarves, handbags, or shoes, can also instantly transform your look from wintery to spring-ready.

Embrace Transitional Fabrics

Spring often brings fluctuating temperatures, so it’s important to choose fabrics that are breathable yet still provide some warmth. Lightweight cotton, linen blends, and silk are excellent choices for layering. For your workwear, a lightweight blazer in a neutral colour can easily pair with both winter staples like wool trousers and lighter spring pieces like a cotton blouse.

Similarly, consider swapping out your thick winter boots for ankle boots or loafers, which will still provide coverage but feel more seasonally appropriate.

Revamp Your Footwear

As we step into spring, it's time to put away those heavy winter boots and make room for lighter, more breathable footwear.

Opt for chic loafers, flats, or ankle boots that can easily transition from office wear to casual outfits.

You can also incorporate a pair of classic sneakers for a more casual look that still feels polished.

If you love dresses, now’s the time to break out strappy sandals or open-toed shoes, ensuring your footwear matches the weather and your overall spring vibe.

Layer Smartly with Lighter Outerwear

One of the easiest ways to transition from winter to spring is by layering with the right outerwear. A light jacket, like a denim or leather jacket, can work wonders in keeping you warm without overwhelming your outfit. A structured blazer can also elevate your look for the office and is versatile enough to pair with dresses, skirts, or trousers.

A lightweight cardigan or a stylish vest can be the perfect addition for those in-between days when the weather’s unpredictable. By adding the right outerwear, you can stay stylish and comfortable no matter what spring weather comes your way.

Transitioning Your Wardrobe Is a Confidence Boost

As the seasons change, so too can your wardrobe. Transitioning from winter to spring gives you the opportunity to explore new textures, colours, and styles.

Together, we can develop outfits that will leave you feeling confident and ready for any occasion, no matter the weather.

PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: WHY COLOUR ANALYSIS MATTERS & HOW TO UNLOCK YOUR BEST COLOURS

Colour is more than just a visual experience—it has the power to influence how we feel and how others perceive us.

When it comes to personal style, choosing the right colours can enhance your natural features and boost your confidence.

Whether you’re navigating the professional world, creating a capsule wardrobe, or refreshing your everyday look, understanding the significance of colour analysis can be a game-changer in how you approach your wardrobe.

What Is Colour Analysis?

Colour analysis is a method that identifies the colours that complement your skin tone, hair colour, and eye colour. By understanding which colours work best for you, you can make more intentional and confident wardrobe choices. There are different colour seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn) based on the undertones in your skin, and each season has a palette of colours that will make you look vibrant, healthy, and polished.

The Impact of Wearing Your Best Colours

When you wear colours that align with your natural undertones, your skin looks healthier, your eyes brighter, and your overall appearance more harmonious. On the flip side, wearing colours that don’t complement your natural colouring can leave you looking washed out or tired. For example, if you're a "Summer" season type with cool undertones, you might look best in soft pastels and cool blues, while a "Winter" type with deeper tones will shine in jewel tones like emerald or royal blue.

How to Discover Your Best Colours

A colour analysis session typically includes identifying your undertones—whether warm, cool, or neutral—and determining which colour palette suits you best. If you don’t have access to a professional colour consultant, start experimenting with clothing or accessories in various shades and observe how each makes you feel. Do you feel more radiant in a soft rose or a bright orange? The goal is to embrace colours that make you feel confident and comfortable.

Practical Ways to Integrate Your Best Colours into Your Wardrobe

Once you’ve identified your optimal colour palette, you can begin to integrate those shades into your wardrobe. Start with neutral staples—think black, white, navy, and beige—and then layer in your best accent colours through blouses, scarves, or accessories. colour can also be a great way to express your personality—perhaps through bold shoes, a statement bag, or a colourful jacket.

If you’d like a more personalised experience, I offer colour analysis consultations that help you discover which colours will truly elevate your wardrobe. By understanding the science of colour, you’ll feel empowered to make better choices and ultimately showcase your best self through your wardrobe.

Curious to discover the colours that truly bring you to life? Whether you're preparing for a wardrobe refresh or simply want to feel more confident in what you wear, colour analysis is a powerful first step. At One Of A Style, we offer personalised image consultancy sessions to help you unlock your best shades and understand how to wear them with ease.

For a romantic dinner, you want an outfit that makes you feel beautiful, elegant, and comfortable. Consider a classic midi dress in a colour that complements your complexion. Red is the traditional colour of love, but don’t feel confined by it—look for colours that make you feel confident.

A deep burgundy or soft blush can be just as romantic. Pair your dress with elegant heels or ballet flats, depending on your comfort level.

Don’t forget a touch of personality: A statement necklace, delicate earrings, or a bold lipstick can take your look from lovely to unforgettable.

Galentine’s Celebration: Fun, Flirty, and Stylish

If you’re celebrating Galentine’s Day with friends, the vibe is fun and playful. You can be a little more adventurous with your outfit choices while still maintaining your professional edge.

Try pairing a tailored blazer with a feminine blouse or a chic skirt. Bold patterns, like polka dots or florals, can add a youthful, vibrant touch to your ensemble.

Finish the look with a pair of fun heels or a cute ankle boot to stay comfortable while having fun. Remember, Galentine’s is all about celebrating friendship, so let your outfit show your cheerful side.

Self-Love Night: Comfort Meets Style

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic love—it’s also a time to embrace self-love. Whether you’re curling up with a good book or treating yourself to a solo dinner, your outfit should reflect both comfort and style.

Opt for a luxurious sweater or cashmere top paired with sleek leggings or wide-leg pants. Choose a colour that makes you feel at ease—soft neutrals, blush pinks, or even a rich navy can evoke relaxation and elegance. You can add a touch of glamour with a silk scarf or some statement jewellery, making your self-care time feel extra special.

The Key to Dressing for Love: Wear What Feels Right

Above all, the key to dressing for love this Valentine’s Day is to wear what makes you feel empowered. Love is about embracing who you are, and your wardrobe should reflect that. Whether you’re celebrating with a partner, friends, or just yourself, ensure your outfit allows you to feel confident and true to your personality.

PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: HOW TO CREATE A CAPSULE WARDROBE THAT WORKS FOR YOU

A capsule wardrobe is more than just a minimalist trend—it’s a powerful tool that helps you build a wardrobe full of pieces that work seamlessly together, making dressing easier and more enjoyable. If you’re looking to feel confident in your wardrobe every day, whether for professional settings or everyday life, starting with a capsule wardrobe is a great way to streamline your closet while showcasing your unique personal style.

Step 1: Identify Your Personal Style

Before you start building a capsule wardrobe, it’s crucial to understand your personal style. What are the clothes that make you feel confident, comfortable, and aligned with your personality?

You might gravitate toward classic pieces, or perhaps you love to incorporate bold colours or patterns into your outfits.

Take a moment to consider the message you want your wardrobe to communicate, whether it’s professional, creative, or a mix of both.

Step 2: Build a Foundation of Versatile Staples

The heart of any capsule wardrobe lies in versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched. Begin by investing in timeless, high-quality staples that work for both professional settings and everyday wear.

For example, a tailored blazer in a neutral colour, a pair of well-fitted trousers, a classic button-down shirt, and a simple dress are all pieces that should be in every capsule wardrobe.

These foundational items serve as the backbone of your collection and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Step 3: Choose a Coordinated Colour Palette

Once you’ve identified the essential pieces, the next step is to choose a colour palette that suits you. Start with neutrals—black, white, grey, and navy—because they’re timeless and easy to mix and match. Then, add in a few accent colours that align with your personality, such as a rich burgundy, emerald green, or soft blush. By limiting your colour palette, you make it easier to create outfits that flow naturally, no matter the combination of pieces.

Step 4: Add Statement Pieces to Reflect Your Personality

While a capsule wardrobe is based on simplicity, it’s important to inject pieces that reflect your personality. Maybe it’s a bold bag, a statement necklace, or a pair of shoes with a unique design. These statement items allow you to showcase your individuality while still maintaining a cohesive, professional look.

Keep in mind that even a simple change of accessories can completely transform the vibe of an outfit.

Step 5: Focus on Quality Over Quantity

When building your capsule wardrobe, remember that it’s not about having more clothes—it’s about having fewer but better pieces. Invest in high-quality fabrics that will stand the test of time, whether it’s a well-tailored coat made from wool or a pair of leather boots that can be worn year-round. Quality pieces will not only last longer but will also make you feel more confident in your clothing, knowing that every item is well made and versatile.

Step 6: Maintain and Rotate Your Capsule Wardrobe

One of the best things about a capsule wardrobe is that it’s easy to maintain. At the start of each season, assess your collection and decide if anything needs to be refreshed. Perhaps you need to replace a pair of shoes or add a new blouse. Additionally, rotating your wardrobe pieces according to the season can help keep things fresh and exciting. For example, in the winter months, you may rely more heavily on sweaters and coats, while in the summer, you might wear more dresses and lightweight fabrics.

The Power of a Well-Curated Capsule Wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe doesn’t just simplify your closet—it simplifies your life. By focusing on a collection of versatile, quality pieces that reflect your personal style, you’ll always have something to wear that makes you feel confident, professional, and ready for anything. Whether you're navigating a new career milestone, managing a busy family life, or simply looking to streamline your wardrobe, a capsule wardrobe gives you the freedom to focus on what truly matters, without the stress of a cluttered closet.

PERSONAL STYLIST TIPS: HOW TO REFRESH YOUR WARDROBE FOR THE NEW YEAR

As the calendar flips to a new year, it brings the perfect opportunity for self-renewal. This year, why not start with your wardrobe? A thoughtfully curated closet can do wonders for your confidence, especially when it aligns with your personal and professional goals. Here’s how you can refresh your wardrobe and boost your confidence, one stylish step at a time.

Reflect on Your Current Wardrobe

Begin by assessing what you currently own. Which pieces make you feel powerful and poised? Which ones have seen better days? Take note of the outfits that boost your mood and those that don’t quite hit the mark. This reflective practice helps you understand your style preferences and the gaps in your wardrobe.

Align Your Wardrobe with Your Goals

Whether you’re aiming for a promotion, starting a new business, or simply seeking a fresh outlook, your wardrobe should reflect these ambitions. Invest in pieces that resonate with where you want to be. For instance, a tailored blazer can symbolise professionalism, while a statement piece of jewellery can add a touch of your unique personality.

The Power of Signature Pieces

Identify a few signature pieces that define your style. These could be anything from a sleek pair of heels to a bold handbag or even a classic trench coat. Signature items become your go-to, making it easier to dress confidently, no matter the occasion.

Embrace Seasonal Transitions

Winter doesn’t have to be all about dark and heavy fabrics. Introduce lighter, brighter pieces that hint at the approaching spring. Layering is key—think soft cashmere sweaters under structured coats or vibrant scarves that add a pop of colour. These transitional pieces keep your wardrobe fresh and adaptable.

Treat Yourself to Something New

A new year deserves a new addition to your wardrobe. Consider investing in an item that excites you—something that pushes you slightly out of your comfort zone. Whether it’s a bold colour you’ve never tried or a silhouette that’s different from your usual, this piece can symbolise your readiness to embrace the new year with confidence.

Organise for Success

Lastly, take time to organise your wardrobe. A well-organised closet not only saves time but also helps you see the full potential of your outfits. Categorise your clothing by type, colour, or even by occasion. This organisation will make getting dressed in the morning a joyful and stress-free experience.

PERSONAL SHOPPING TIPS – PERFECT FESTIVE (AND STYLISH) GIFTING IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS

Are you looking for the perfect gift to give for someone you love? Whether it’s for the festive season, a birthday, or simply to show them you care, getting the gifts right can feel daunting, particularly if they are fashionable! Here’s my guide to finding the perfect stylish gifts, from jewellery to clothing, and anything in between.

Whether you're shopping for loved ones or indulging yourself this season, finding the perfect gift can be a delightful experience. Thoughtful presents not only show you care but also leave a lasting impression. If you’re seeking inspiration, here are some elegant and versatile gift ideas that blend style, practicality, and a touch of luxury.

A Beautiful Piece of Jewellery

Jewellery is a timeless gift, perfect for both men and women. Whether it’s a delicate necklace, unique earrings, or a statement ring, a well-chosen piece can hold sentimental value and elevate any outfit.

Jewellery doesn’t have to be overtly expensive (unless you want to invest in a piece that is so), it can be a find from a vintage store with countless stories to go with it, or an independent jeweller that is as unique as the person you are gifting the piece to. For example, these beautiful gold Fiorina earrings are under £70 and are 18k gold plated.

How to Choose the Perfect Jewellery:

  • Observe their preferences: Do they lean towards gold, silver, rose gold, or mixed metals?

  • Consider their style: Are they drawn to minimalist designs or statement pieces like chandelier earrings or chunky bracelets?

  • When in doubt: Opt for versatile, classic pieces that can be dressed up or down.

Luxury Loungewear

Stylish loungewear makes a thoughtful and indulgent gift. Look for high-quality sets made from natural fabrics like silk, cashmere, or bamboo for added comfort and elegance.

While loungewear is often considered to only be used in the home, when styled correctly, it can also be worn for the office, brunch, or even a date, so you’ll know when you’ve invested in a beautiful loungewear set, that it will be used for more than lounging around! For example, these stunning high waist silk palazzo pants could be worn comfortably for Christmas morning, or to a business meeting!

What to look for when buying loungewear for a gift

  • The fabric is important! Silky fabrics can ensure the pieces can be worn throughout the winter and summer months. For some, the silkier fabrics can feel more appropriate for nighttime, so take a look at the wardrobe of the person you are gifting, or if they have worn these fabrics outside of the house, to be sure they will wear this piece in other outfits.

  • Consider the patterns. If the person you are buying this gift for is someone who loves colours & patterns, or prefers more neutral tones, take this into consideration for the piece you gift them.

  • Keep the receipt. While we work our hardest to make sure we have the sizing and styling right, there’s always the chance it may not be the right fit. Keep a gift receipt in the packaging for ease for the receiver.

A Cashmere or Wool Coat

A well-tailored winter coat is a timeless wardrobe staple that exudes sophistication. Classic styles like trench coats, wrap coats, or peacoats are versatile and elegant.

While it is a piece that will be worn for a few months, consider a piece that is versatile for the office and for more relaxed outings, so they can use it more often! If they head to the office every day, you can be sure the coat will be worn very often, so make sure the coat is of a sturdy fabric, and consider a darker tone if they commute, as a white or light colour can get dirty quickly.

Make It Special:

  • Choose a neutral or jewel tone for maximum versatility.

  • Pair the gift with a voucher for a personal styling session, helping them learn how to style their new coat for every occasion.

Vintage or Pre-Loved Designer Accessories

Sustainability meets style with a pre-loved designer piece. From a vintage handbag to a silk scarf, gifting a unique fashion item is a sure way to impress.

How to Add a Personal Touch:

  • Include the story behind the piece, such as the era it comes from or the brand’s history.

  • Look for accessories like Hermes scarves, designer belts, or classic handbags in excellent condition.

Accessories: Bags, Scarves, and Boots

Accessories are a fantastic way to add flair to anyone’s wardrobe. Bags, scarves, and knee-length boots are versatile options that suit almost every personal style.

  • Bags: A chic crossbody or tote is both practical and stylish.

  • Scarves: Opt for cashmere, wool or silk designs with timeless patterns.

  • Boots: Knee-length boots in leather or suede make a statement and pair beautifully with everything from dresses to jeans.

A Shared Styling Experience

Why not gift an experience instead of an item? A group colour analysis or styling session is a fun, unique way to bond with loved ones while learning valuable tips to enhance personal style.

  • Group Bookings: Host a session for up to four people and receive a 10% discount on the total price.

  • Gift Vouchers: Treat someone special to a personalised styling experience they’ll cherish.

Stylish Stocking Stuffer Ideas

If you prefer to give smaller gifts, or are looking for those “stocking stuffers” then you can look for stylish options. Here are a few of my favourites:

  • Make bathtime a luxury. There’s nothing quite like diving deep into a luxurious bath or shower and feeling pampered. Several stores, such as Anthropologie, Lush, and other high street stores like Boots/Superdrug have plenty of pre-wrapped Christmas gifts for you to quickly pick up – no wrapping required! Make sure you know if they are a shower or bath person (or both!) before you get them these items.

  • Try out new scents. If you want to give a gift that doesn’t encompass too much investment straight away, then a sampler set of perfumes can be a great option. This gives the receiver the chance to try out a selection of new scents, or to take with them on their travels and smell unique every day! For example this Twelve Days of Cologne by Jo Malone, Kayali Discovery Layering Set (available on Sephora UK), or for the friend that loves darker scents inspired by “witchy” things, try out the Cursed sampler set.

  • Homewares go a long way. You can’t go wrong with a classic – the candle, tea cups, or perhaps a very special set of wine glasses.

Make It Memorable

Whatever you choose, the best gifts are those selected with care and thought. Whether it’s a timeless jewellery piece, a luxurious coat, or an unforgettable experience, these ideas are sure to bring joy and style this season.

PERSONAL SHOPPING TIPS: NECKLINES FOR SMALLER BUSTS - FINDING THE PERFECT FIT

. If you have a smaller bust, choosing the right neckline can make a huge difference in how you feel and look in your clothes. It’s all about creating balance, enhancing your natural shape, and boosting your confidence. Today, I’m excited to share some of my favourite neckline styles for women with smaller busts, and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe for both work and leisure.

As a personal stylist, one of the most common questions I receive is about finding the right clothes to suit different body types, and necklines are a major part of that.

Understanding Your Body Shape

Before we dive into specific necklines, it’s important to recognise that there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution in fashion. Your body is unique, and the key to dressing confidently is knowing what works for you. If you have a smaller bust, it’s not about hiding or compensating but enhancing and drawing attention to the parts of your body that make you feel fantastic.

Necklines are a simple yet effective way to do this. By understanding which styles work best for you, you can curate a wardrobe that flatters your body shape and makes you feel effortlessly chic.

The Best Necklines for a Smaller Bust

1. Turtle-Neck

Turtlenecks are a great wardrobe staple. The high neckline creates the illusion of more volume around the chest area, enhancing your proportions in a flattering way. Turtlenecks also draw attention to the neck and shoulders, offering a sleek, streamlined silhouette that complements smaller busts. Pairing them with layered necklaces or a statement coat can further elevate the look, adding both depth and sophistication to your outfit.

2. Crew Neck

Many people assume that a crew neck wouldn’t work for a smaller bust, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. A higher neckline like a crew neck can add fullness to your bust area, creating a balanced and proportional look. Pair this with tailored trousers or a sleek pencil skirt for the office, and you have a clean, professional look that’s both comfortable and stylish.

3. Scoop Neck

The scoop neck is a great option for a more feminine and relaxed look. It creates the illusion of a fuller bust and adds softness to your overall silhouette. For an office-ready style, try pairing a scoop-neck blouse with a structured blazer – this contrast can elevate your look while still keeping it work-appropriate.

4. Square Neck

A square neckline is a great way to add angles to your look and give the illusion of a broader chest and shoulders. This neckline is bold, elegant, and ideal for both formal and casual settings. It’s particularly well-suited for women with a smaller bust, as the straight lines add structure and interest to your upper body. I recommend trying a square-neck dress or top for your next work meeting; it’s a flattering and unique choice that’ll set you apart.

5. Off-the-Shoulder

If you’re looking to add a bit of flair to your style, an off-the-shoulder neckline is a fantastic option. It shifts the focus to your collarbones and shoulders, subtly balancing the proportions of your body. This neckline works beautifully in both casual and more formal pieces, making it perfect for a Friday office look or a weekend event.

Tips for Styling These Necklines

When it comes to styling necklines for a smaller bust, layering and accessorising can help complete your look. For example, a well-fitted blazer over a turtle-neck can add structure to your outfit, while a delicate necklace with a scoop neck can draw attention to the neckline without overwhelming it. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different textures and fabrics, too. Silk, cotton, and linen all behave differently, and finding the right material for your neckline can enhance your overall look.

Ready to Discover Your Perfect Style?

Finding the perfect neckline is just one part of the journey to curating a wardrobe that works for you. PERSONAL STYLING ADVICE: EMBRACING YOUR PEAR SHAPE: WHAT TO WEAR FOR THE OFFICE (WITHOUT A BODYCON)

If you’ve got a fabulous pear-shaped figure, you might think the office style game is all about bodycon—but guess what? There's a whole world of chic and flattering outfits waiting for you!

In this blog, I share my favourite tips on how to highlight your curves, play with proportions, and build a balanced, polished look without feeling confined to just one style.

When it comes to dressing for your pear-shaped figure, you might have heard that bodycon dresses are your best friend. While they can certainly highlight your curves, there’s so much more to explore in the world of professional style. As a specialist personal stylist, I believe every woman should feel confident and empowered in her workwear—without feeling limited to a single style.

If you have a pear-shaped body, your hips are typically wider than your bust, and your waist is more defined. This beautiful silhouette offers plenty of opportunities to play with proportions and create a balanced, polished look for the office. Let’s dive into some key tips for dressing your pear shape professionally, without relying on the ubiquitous bodycon.

Creating Balance in Your Silhouette

Dressing for a pear shape is all about balance. The aim is to draw attention to your upper half while elegantly complementing your hips and lower body. This doesn’t mean hiding your curves; it’s about enhancing your natural shape with thoughtful styling and smart choices.

Tops that Work for Pear Shapes

1. Structured Blazers

A well-fitted, structured blazer is your best friend. It draws attention upwards and defines your shoulders, giving you a more proportional look. Opt for blazers with subtle shoulder padding or detailing to broaden your upper half slightly. Bright or bold colours can also help shift the focus towards your upper body, while darker colours on the bottom half maintain balance. Top tip: cropped blazers/bikers are recommended as they’ll focus the attention on the waistline, away from the hips.

2. Statement Blouses

Blouses with interesting necklines or detailing at the shoulders are a fantastic choice for pear-shaped women. Think ruffles, puffed sleeves, or embellishments that draw the eye upwards. Patterns and bold colours also work well here, adding volume and interest to your upper half while keeping your overall look balanced.

3. Turtle-Neck and Boat Neck Tops

Both turtle-neck and boat neck tops helps draw the attention to your neck and broaden your shoulders, creating balance with your hips. These necklines are flattering, elegant, and work perfectly under a blazer or on their own. They’re easy to style and can effortlessly transition from a busy day at the office to after-work drinks.

Choosing the Right Bottoms

1. A-Line Skirts

An A-line skirt is ideal for pear shapes because it skims over your hips, creating a smooth and flattering silhouette. It’s a professional yet feminine option for the office, and it pairs beautifully with structured tops or blouses. Opt for skirts that fall just below the knee for a sophisticated, office-appropriate look.

2. Wide-Leg Trousers

Wide-leg trousers are another excellent choice for balancing your proportions. They provide structure while skimming over your hips and thighs, creating a streamlined silhouette. Pair them with a tucked-in blouse or a fitted top to ensure your waist is still defined, maintaining that beautiful hourglass shape.

3. Flared Trousers

If you’re not a wide-leg kind of person perhaps you can try flared trousers still with a mid or high waist to elongate your legs while defining your waist and creating a balance with your hips and bust. Choose darker or plain colours to streamline your lower half, and pair them with lighter, brighter or bold printed tops for balance.

Don’t forget the outerwear!

For the cooler months, a coat with a belt to enhance your waist is the perfect option for your outerwear. There are some excellent options available from the classic wool to a lighter-weight trench coat. Make sure the coat falls at your natural waist, and if there are buttons, single-breasted options are best.

Accessories for the Office

Accessories can also help you achieve balance in your outfit. Statement necklaces or earrings draw attention to your upper half, while a well-placed belt can further define your waist. A structured bag carried on your shoulder also helps add volume to your upper half, subtly shifting the focus away from your hips.

Let’s Embrace Your Shape Together

Dressing for your body shape isn’t about following rules; it’s about embracing what makes you unique. If you’re ready to explore new ways to dress your pear-shaped figure for the office, I’m here to help. My personal style masterclasses are designed to guide you in discovering the clothes and colours that work best for your body, making sure you feel confident and stylish in any professional setting.
